Edit Dress Picture

My mom and I decided that a picture I posted of a dress that she had made for Abigail didn't really do it justice.  So Abigail played "model" today.  We love this dress!

Sew Much Fun!

The weather has been so nice here and has me ready for spring. When I think of spring I immediately think of what wonderful sundresses Addison will get to wear. So I bought some really great fabric and got to work. When I started sewing I was afraid she was going to end up looking like and Easter egg. I think it turned out okay though.

It was the end of the day (which explains the crazy hair) but she couldn't resist trying it on and posing for a picture. She loves it because it is long like a princess dress and twirly.

Sneak Peak

So, I have been working on a little makeover of A's bathroom. Here is a little look of something I have been working on. This picture was previously hanging in the bathroom. I have never been a huge fan of this flower but have tolerated for 4 years. I love the frame, so I decided to take the picture out and reuse the frame.

My first attempt at subway art! I think it turned out pretty good. I designed it on the Gypsy to make sure everything was going to fit in the frame just perfect. I can't wait to get all the details together for the bathroom and get this put up!

Love is in the Air

I finally finished a project. I am notorious for working on 5 to 6 projects at a time. I decided since Valentine's Day was approaching fast I would get this stuff done. Since I don't have a fireplace I do a little display on a little cabnet with the mirror above it. (Hey, there typically isn't a need for a fireplace here.)

I couldn't resist these lovely hearts. I love the candy conversation hearts, so that would explain my need for these. I covered two with paper and painted the others. And then just added things until it felt complete.

I love the heart with wings. I think it is my favorite part of the banner. Of course, I used my Cricut to get this little beauty. What did I do without it?

I made these ruffle balls with some scrap fabric and foam balls. Not as cute as the ones on The House of Smiths blog but they serve their pupose.

After many shopping trips and much debate, I found this white plate at TJ Maxx for just $2.99. I bought some pink vinyl and cut the wonderful heart with non other than my Cricut. It was something I had been looking forward to doing since January 1.

Second snow day in a row, play date and a mantel

Early yesterday morning we woke up to hear sleet hitting the windows.  There had been rain earlier in the evening so the roads were really bad and school was cancelled.  It was a cold day and things did not get better.  School was cancelled again today. We even lost power due to rolling blackouts for about 20 minutes this morning.

Here is the sidewalk in front of our house.  Dangerously slippery!

Our front porch step, looks like snow but it is solid ice.  We saw a little bit of sun this afternoon but not enough.  School is cancelled again tomorrow.

We ventured through the neighborhood to go to our friend Courtney's house for a little playtime with her two little girls.  It was a bad idea to get out and drive even a short distance.  We slid around and it took at lease six tries to get back up our driveway.  The ice is so thick that some of the kids in the neighborhood were playing ice hockey in ice skates in the middle of the road.

We made tortilla snowflakes at Courtney's house.  You fold your tortilla into fourths and tear away pieces like you would cut away pieces if you were cutting a paper snowflake.

Then, you brush melted butter on them and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top.
Pop them in the oven.  They were yummy!

During nap time I had a little time to work on decorating our mantel for Valentine's Day.  I only used things that I had around the house.  I made the banner yesterday.  I changed out the ribbon that the T hangs from and dressed up the candle holders today.  Not exactly elegant but the kids get excited to have seasonal decorations out and it makes me feel like I have accomplished something.

Let's Get Started

I am going to stop worrying about how this blog looks and start posting.  I thought it would be fun to create a place for us to share pictures of projects we are working on, places we go, pictures of fun things we buy, and just share about what we are doing day to day.
We definitely come by our desire to create honestly.
You can ask Dad to make something and he can do it.  This is the doll bed he made for Abigail for her first birthday.

Mom is a talented seamstress.  Here is a dress Abigail wore in her 2nd year pictures and a quilt she made for me.

Of course, all of our grandparents were or are gifted in creating things.  As I was taking pictures for this post, I was amazed by all of the things in our home that were made by my family or by me.  It makes me feel special to be surrounded by things that people I love have made for me.

Marci made these candle stick hangers and signs for me for Christmas this year.  I love them!  I need to get busy and make some seasonal signs to hang from them.

Niki embroidered this tea towel for me.  I love the detail and the tiny stitches.  Of course, I don't use it, it is too pretty, it is on display in my kitchen.

She made this Texas flag for me, too.  I mean she MADE the flag and the frame.  I first thought she framed the flag but then she told me she made the flag also.  I still can't believe it!

I decorated this lamp shade for Abigail's room.  I am embarrassed to show the before picture, I don't know what I was thinking.  But I like the way it turned out the second time around.

Okay, I can't wait to see what my wonderful sisters post on this blog.  I love clicking through blogs to see what strangers create and the fun things they do.  So I think it is about time that I get started and share.
